What is a Male Voice Choir?
A group of male singers who sing music in four parts – 2 Tenor parts, Baritone and Bass
Who Are The Aeolian Choir?
About 50 men who love singing to produce a sound that has its own special
quality. They meet in central Kilmarnock on Tuesday nights from September till
March.
Is this type of choir not for old men?
No, in fact throughout the UK there are many teenage male voice choirs. In this
choir the youngest member of the choir can be 16 and the oldest is in their mid
- 80s.
What is the Scholarship?
If you are a successful applicant the Choir will pay you £200 to sing with it for one Season.
What do I have to do to apply?
The Scholarship is available to students 16 years old and over attending school, college or university.

I don’t if I am tenor, baritone or bass and have never sung in a choir
before
It really doesn’t matter!! If you enjoy singing you should still apply.
What are the advantages of the Scholarship?
As well as paying you to do something you enjoy, you will receive advice on
vocal techniques for singing different types of song and gain valuable
experience in sight reading music.
I have lots of other studies to consider – what would be the time
commitment?
The Choir would expect you to attend most rehearsals on a Tuesday evening from
7.30pm to 9.30pm. These normally run from Late August till the end of March.
You would also be expected to sing at most of our concerts, (currently 4 or 5
per season) and at our Christmas Concert, and Annual Concert.
What sort of music do you sing?
Everything – Pop songs – Song from the Shows – Opera choruses – Scots songs – Modern
classics
